Steve Hill is completely inspired by the western landscape. He often works in the plein air method, but also creates pastel drawings in his studio. Each completed piece brings the mood of the moment to the viewer. 

       His pastels are remarkable for the richly handled color applied strongly to evoke the atmosphere of the landscape. He chooses to work on sanded paper which allows him to apply more than 20 layers of color.
