Bern Sundell is the son of a forest ranger and spent some of his childhood in Ashland, Montana surrounded 
by Crow Indians. At this time he absorbed many strong  visual impressions at a young age which transmute through time into his uniquely contemporary expressions in paint. His Road Warrior series, which includes  Warrior with Gold Bow, features these Indian warrior images with modern highway pavement and lines. Bern is always inventive and playful in his handling of visual imagery.
